the birthday girl

my oh my, miss elle is 6 months old!

holy moly (as walker would say) where has the time gone this year?

you are my sweet sweet girl and i just can not get enough of you! I pretty much have to kiss you nonstop if I am holding you because I love you so. Your daddy just looks at you and you flash a big smile to him. You LOVE your brother - think he is the funniest guy around and love that you get to take a bath together every night.

You now roll from tummy to back all the time and even multiple times in a row. You have had rice cereal, rice cereal with apple, sweet potatoes, butternut squash and apples and LOVED every one! You automatically knew what to do with a spoon, straw, sippee cup which amazed me. You love to hang out on the quilt your grammy made you, in your exasaucer or in your jumperoo. You are still not a fan of your bumbo unless you are eating. You love to go for our nightly swims at the pool - you usually get excited and kick your legs and get your left arm splashing. You to have mama within in eyesight pretty much all the time. You rode in the swing at the park for the 1st time the other day and liked it. You still sleep with your swaddle but like to break out of it in the middle night and then when I go in to get you, you squeal with excitement flailing your arms and legs - then I take you into my room, reswaddle you and then go feed and put you back to sleep in your crib. You usually wake up 2 times per night even though you are almost 20 pounds! I catch myself wishing for you to sleep through the night but then I take it back because that would mean that my little baby would be a big girl and I can't imagine not loving on you all the time in that glider after I feed you. I will nurse you and then hold you on my shoulder and sing to you "good night elle, good night elle good night elle, its time to go to sleep" while I snuggle you and smell your freshly washed hair and sweet baby smell.

i love you sweet elle.

basketball

walker played basketball at the Y in the 4-5 year old league. it was fun for him but definitely a bit more challenging than 3 year old soccer was this past fall. most of the kiddos were at least a head taller than him which was frustrating for him and us at times. once he learned the concept of passing it away when he was stuck his frustration pretty much left and he was happy on the court most of the time.

he ended the last game happy and confident which is all you can ask for when it comes to sports.

a few funny quotes from walker during basketball:

did you see me shoot that ball, it didn't go in because i was too strong, i shot it up TOO high to make that basket.

is the tall boy here today?

is this a game or practice?

monster and tall man on defense

i was taller than that one boy. probably because he didn't eat his veggies.

running from end to end and each time either running and sliding on the court or running right into the padding of the basketball goal pole (on purpose of course!)

mom "walker, you played awesome today. you are so good at basketball"
walker "yes, I am awesome."

Just like Dad

Walker asked to shave tonight after he got out of his bath. He is very precise and shaves "just like daddy." When he first started shaving he didn't want Adam or I looking at him and would close the bathroom door until he was finished - it was a look into his teenage years! Tonight he was okay with us coming in while he was shaving so I had to snap a few photos to remember this sweet time.

I love the middle photo because it reminds me of his nightly routine. The electronic spiderman toothbrush that we use each day, the pink brush that I use to comb out his hair after his bath every night, him standing on the stool to reach the sink to brush his teeth, his collection of necklaces and medals from school and sports hanging on the knob to the bathroom cabinet and that sweet boy fresh from his bath smelling of sweet baby soap.
